DormLoop ("we," "us," or "our") operates a campus marketplace for college students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
What we collect
When you use DormLoop, we may collect the following information:
- Email address — your school-issued .edu email used to verify your account
- School affiliation — determined from your verified email domain
- Profile photo — optional image you upload to your profile
- Listing photos — images you attach when creating buy, sell, or wanted posts
- Messages — chat content exchanged between users about listings
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the marketplace and connect you with students on your campus
- Match your account to the correct school community
- Display your listings and profile to other verified students at your school
- Facilitate messaging between buyers and sellers
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms & Conditions
What we don't do
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Specifically:
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- We do not show third-party advertisements in the app
- We do not share your data with data brokers or marketing companies
Infrastructure provider
DormLoop uses Supabase as our infrastructure provider for authentication, database storage, and file hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase's secure servers. Supabase processes data on our behalf in accordance with their privacy policy and applicable data protection laws.
Message retention
Chat messages between users are automatically deleted after 7 days. This helps protect your privacy and keeps our systems lean. Listing photos and account information are retained until you delete your account or request removal.
How to delete your account
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at hello@dormloop.app from the email address linked to your account. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm when your data has been removed.
Children's privacy
DormLoop is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. We recommend that users be 18 or older for in-person meetups and transactions.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of DormLoop after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
